- Happy Chinese New Year -

My mommy was a very happy woman today, because she didnt have to go to the wet market alone at 430am in the morning. She was armed with her small purse loaded with cash; i was there with the ipod and story book. I always told her she was crazy; why go to the butcher so early in the day?
And then it happened. There were already several cuts of meat that were completely sold out by 5am. Im beginning to think its safer to just rear a real pig to prepare for future Chinese New Year.
As i sat in the pavillion (to watch over all the groceries my mom bought) and read my book, i took a total of 5 glances at my surroundings when resting my eyes. The first was evident as a self reflection that i was still feeling crazy about being there in the first place. The second was seeing women who made a deal with each other by taking turns to rush off from the pavillion to buy their groceries while the other watched over their achievements with joy. The third glance saw a mother scolding her son for walking so slowly, evidently already angry about the fact that she was already facing the impending doom of not being able to mark off even half of her grocery list. The fourth saw the wet market completely crowded by the time it was 7am, and some butchers actually starting to pack up. The last glance was the best, with momma coming back from her fifth trip to announce to the kingdom that she was victorious and ready to go home.
My brothers were smarter than me though. They got into the festive spirit by baking the stuff they liked to eat. The elder one took on pineapple tarts, while the younger one baked cookies (which i must admit tastes like those from famous amos). Seeing that no one in hell eats western food during chinese new year, i had no excuse but to help my mother in the kitchen for another 3 hours peeling and chopping her ingredients.

This new year's eve will be spent:
1) keeping awake as the only chinese tradition i very willingly follow
2) calling gracie as the only tradition i keep with my primary school friend
3) Doing my 4000 word report that i have not started as yet (the ever constant tradition and pain for business students)

- One Baby Drama -

One stiff neck, 1 message and 1 phone call later, my tuesday had become from dramatic to traumatic. 2 consecutive outings in a day had come to none, and i was desperate to get out of the house.
2 of my good friends were having their periods around the same time, and while one had taken the medicine to comfort the pain, the other one chose to walk around the house in hopes of shaking it off. the only pain i had was my ass from sitting on the swivel chair for too long a time.
I had just finished my taiwanese drama (Ming Zhong Zhu Ding Wo Ai Ni) in speed time, and then a random transition to an episode in Sex and the City didnt seem to change anything. It was the episode where miranda got pregnant. These few days everything i watched had an actress getting pregnant. which set me thinking... if i would ever be a father one day, would i be a good one?
If the drama i watched had taught me one thing, its than its so much easier to be romantic when you are friggin rich. But the guy in the show had it all right from the start. What about us then, the ones who need to slog hard in order to reach the point of financial freedom? In the quest for the comfortable lifestyle we all wish to be in, will there ever be a win-win situation when it comes to the children? I wonder then, if i will ever be able to give up my ambitions in life to watch my children grow. If you had spent your whole lives studying and working hard for your own future, is it realy worth to give up everything for your children?
In a way, im proud of my mama, because for the past 7 years she would always jet off overseas for holidays with just her best friends and no one else, because she knows that if she doesnt do something for herself right now she will not be able to enjoy and have fun properly at all when she's old and weak.
And so, i know i cant have it all in my life, and time will only tell when i decide whether the biggest, proudest achievements in my life came from taking care of my children as they grew up, or from the millions of dollars worth of contracts i would have signed.
Of course, i can choose to ponder about this for another day, or move on to another drama and look at pretty girls again. for now though, the decision comes easily. I choose the latter haha.

- Because Life Just Feels So Weird Sometimes -

I think so many things has been happening so much these few weeks. Its those times when i just feel like sitting down by myself with a starbucks and just staring into space; and possibly, just feel nothing.
I've been meeting so much of my friends recently, but i dont know why, i still miss them a lot. Probably i havent been able to find anyone decent to be good friends with this semester... oh god are guys in HR not normal. then i moved back home from hall, and i miss the guys so so much. the redang trip bonded us so much together. I meet up with the councillors, and we remininsce that some things never change with us, though everything else around us has. I only want to bitch around them, because at school spontaneous nastiness as a way to build friendships does not seem to be a trend that goes well with people Haha.
Then i think about my specialization and still wonder if it was the best option for me to go into HR; they really teach more of HR, not the management consultancy that im interested in. The only module with management is then a truckload of bullshit; the professor is brilliant but i guess he does not know how to teach. What a stubborn mind he has! But i spoke to aviel the other day, and he told me to be confident about what i chose for myself. So yeah, i've been trying to stay as positive as ever.
Entrepreneurship is really not easy, but im so glad for the experience. There's really so much to learn before i earn my first million! (: And for the friends i approach to help me out; oh how they didnt even bat an eyelid or took 5 seconds to think before agreeing to help me! I'm so ever grateful honestly. But as for class, i do still look at certain friends whom i'ver had misunderstandings with from time to time, and all i can do right now is just to lament. But i do miss them as well.
And poor miss potato is ridiculously weak! she's always getting sick and seeing the doctor for all sorts of illnesses. If i was her doctor im sure she contributed to 5% of my annual revenue zzz. Damn worried about her. We were telling each other the other day that we both wished we died before each other; think we cannot imagine a scenario without each other as friends. The other one would sob till heaven drop down arh.
And then got miss drama, nat, miss sadako, oh I miss having classes with them so badly you have no idea. Meeting them for the weekly lunch just isnt enough. But as we get busier and busier through the semester, i only know its going to be so much harder. But i will try my best.
Its day one of Instep results! Miss drama and I havent gotten any emails from them yet. Oh My God please give it to me. I really wish to be able to study elsewhere. I just need to experience this to possibly find out even more about myself spiritually and the things i want to do in the future.

This baby has a butt for cheeks. If next time my child as cute i pray thank you to ti gong ar!

I hate to admit this, but watching the olympics again does make me feel very proud to be a chinese, and so im going to support all asians and chinese, and of course singaporeans for their sporting glories.

Events i must try to watch:
-Swimming
-Women's Gymnastics
-Women's Volleyball (because they are so tall and sexy)
-Table Tennis
-Track
-Rhythmic Gymnastics
-Tennis!

Its very funny to hear how everyone is going swimming, playing table tennis, badminton and tennis each time after the Olympics. I guess when you are not the best, you are at least allowed to dream of crowning glory. May 65 Kg be my gold medal! (:

- Because its the first day of school -

On the first day of school, I found a new type of drug that was being used aggressively throughout the day by seniors who got burnt during camp last week.

And of course, one of them was to be Miss-i-do-not-look-like-sadako. She puts aloe vera on her nose but it looks like she likes to stick it inside her nostrils for the cooling effect too. Way trendyyy...

Also on the first day of school, i got something from my tutor for class participation! Its the five mascots for the Olympics; I like the fire one... the one on the bottom right just looks gay.

But on the first day of school, i also missed how my friends tried to ruin my reputation during the classes in my minor...

And of course, just missed their company in general, the times we slogged together and all...

And the unexpected close ones from my hall, and i miss hall life because of them :D

- Because Macdonalds' meals are nothing but scary preservatives that look the same after 4 freaking years -

As much as i refused to believe this, miss lazy has i think almost vowed never to eat fast food again, unless its fries. And now i too, am on a wager with her to not eat all fast food (subway is the only one not counted) as well as deep fried dishes for an entire month! Anything else that's grilled or bbq-ed was discreetly not included though for my own safety. So friends, please do not mention KFC or MOS burger in front of me for the time being.

Behold! Miss i-just-rebonded-my-hair-but-look-like-sadako uni good friend of mine demonstrating the scene of the most kiasu side of NTU students (us included) during the most sacred and important event that happens once every 6 months: Our subjects registrations day. (miss sadako screams) Because our school's administration system is so lousy, they decided to use the fastest finger first approach instead of NUS's bidding system when it came to the registration for our courses. Applying our knowledge in IT, we decided that computers in the school's library will be the most appropriate since its time is in sync with the server's, so we would never be late. Because all good timing slots for a course are gone within 2 seconds. yes, not kidding. some claim that its the miliseconds but lets not be idiots. Mushroom C and i were laughing so much as everyone around the library were hitting the enter keys fervently like rabbits having sex by the time of 1.29 pm: the registration was open 1.30pm on the dot. I think she laughed so much she was off the timing by a little cause she only got 2 out of the 4 slots she wanted. i got all of mine! (basks in happiness) No choice lar, moving back hall next sem have to get good time slots or my life will be hell. Well, waiting for some of my friends to come back from overseas for fun and laughter! Till then, ill be waiting for my JB trip on thursday with my minor group! : D

My new nephew! He said aiya aiya aiya! in his sleep when i carried him! Lol. Such a whiny ass! Confirm will be spoilt boy...

- Because its not just a game of tennis -

Im a fierce competitor. I dont show it on the surface, but once you get me onto any match-up for any kind of sport, regardless of whether im good in it so whatsoever, im there to win. Sometimes i believe that fighting to win is not just because you had the ability to do so. I see competitiveness as the acknowledgement that you have something to live and fight for; whether it is for the team, for glory, for fame, but most importantly for yourself.
Because life's a battle; it has been since the moment we were born to this world, and competing makes me feel alive, because i know very well that if im not going to take the chance to win, anyone will be able to, and ultimately i will just be left behind; without any fight left in me, and that's when the danger really strikes you, because you realise that you do not care about anything anymore, and the passion leaves you, throwing you into the shadows of your own life. And its an oxymoron isnt it, to let your shadows take the lead in your life when they are supposed to be always following behind.
And then there's the thing about beliefs. We all believe strongly in things unimaginable, i mean, each to his own. We criticise others when they step over our threshold level for things we condone. But there's always that devil at the back sniggering isnt it? What happens when we are in the same situation? Can we really guarantee that we would not practice the vices we spent all our lives condemning, even if it might lead to substantial losses to us in one way or the other? The truth is, the fact has still always remained the same that we are man, and we make mistakes. It has never got to do with anything from others. We have, and always will be the greatest threats to ourselves with the decisions we choose to make.
So you know what i say? I say stop thinking, and just let the present take its course. Forget about your beliefs and forget about the past. Needless to say, forget about expecting anything from the future. Learn from the present, stay in the present, and live in the present, and be content with the present. Because it is only when you do so when you appreciate and be grateful for everything that has happened around you in this world...

Speaking about a great competitor, my favourite player has won Wimbledon again! Her 5th! And then the doubles crown too! (: What a superb role model!

- Feeling elated -

OK i did pretty decent especially when you consider my aptitude when it come to math or IT related subject and skills. Im lucky to be still in my second upper, although now im barely hanging by a thread here. Thanks to all who asked for concern especially since i was so stressed out almost throughout the entire semester... To my dearest friends from uni this semester, well done and congrats if you did well, and seriously a pat on the back still from those who did not get the results they expected... there are still many sems to go we can work towards it together (:

That being said, The next time you ask me how much a boy should save when he wants to pay his university fees as well as get a car in between the number of years he has to save the money (which was one of the stupid questions in my financial paper), i would ask the boy to stop being a poser and such a lazy ass bone and just concentrate on completing university first before even deciding on such expenditure.

OBS was not bad for me as a first timer!! I especially liked myself when i managed to do all the obstacle courses that dealt with walking across balancing beams that were about 5 storeys high and everything! The whole day i was like chanting to myself "dont be a loser dont be a loser dont be a loser!" haha. I guess i do have my ego Zzz. I made some new friends again (this time i had to force myself to be friendlier earlier since i only had 2.5 days with them) But all is well in my life right now. Until i start studying everyday from 9 to 5 when my school starts next week though. Damn sian.

PS: did u watch the french open final? IT WAS SPLENDID. I want to play tennis. Now.

10 things people might have never guessed about me:

1) Im really quite the introvert. I just have very good PR skills (i think). If you think im nothing but mean, then i must have done that on purpose to you, because,

2) Im also very deliberate and clear cut when expressing my thoughts and ideas. I really am not bitchy, because most of the time as i've mentioned, its just my thoughts at the point in time.

3) My favourite numbers are 2, 8 and 23 --> 2 because im the second child in the family, 8 because im chinese whom believes in fortune and luck, and 23 because its the date of my birthday each March.

4) I very superficial when it comes to eating food. I do not eat things that look soft and gross such as sea cucumbers, ladyfingers, figs, dragonfruit (because it looks poisonous with all the dots) and many, many, many more.

5) I have never believed in the notion of best friends but that has changed over the years.

6) One of my greatest wishes is to write a humourous, non-fiction book about my own experiences and ironies in life when i grow up.

7) I have zero luck in lucky draws and contests. My winnings from all my life has been: $10 voucher from hall's bingo game during the mooncake festival celebrations, 20 dollars from 4D buying my own birthday numbers, a very recent profit winning of 50 cents from the last 4D draw buying my car plate's number (stupid i-bet), and 20 dollars from toto (when i spent 26 dollars to buy the tickets). I have never won more than 10 dollars in mahjong before even though i now play considerably much better than the past.

8) I can lose in every sport to you, but i will never ever give up when it comes to a tennis match.

I went back to the office today and the ladies were as ever pretty. they all screamed to me like im their little brother in some ways. but its a good feeling since i do not have any real sisters haha. so what is being random. i think one of the bros ive come to know and love recently fulfills that aspect very well. its like when you are talking to girls and suddenly asking them if girls ever fart because he swears to god he has never heard a girl fart before; and there upon the discussion of what girls really do in secret when they do want to fart. or being random is asking why mahjong tiles are stacked up in rows of 2s but not 3s or 4s. my only answer for that is well, this game wasnt handed down by the egyptians. god i crave for such randomness. Now that is what you call hilarious.

and im in real disdain about miss sharaPUIva. has anyone here other than me received a mms from her showing a picture of how she won 13 'yao' in viwawa recently? her rivalry with me has just gotten to a whole new level. her ego is but a mere reflection of mine haha. just that she refuses to admit it. all she wants to say is that she was sent from above to crush my confidence. But i do swear ive been lacking a lot of it this semester haha. or actually, since i entered university.

by the way im trying to read the lovely bones by alice seabold again. saw the title in casper's blog and just thought it was time to remininsce. and im also adding fishing to my to do list this holidays. im so desperate to find out what all this excitement surrounding it is about. if not, i guess i can settle for prawning. is it fun?

i was watching the taiwan version of superstar when the judge commented how falling in love can help inspire a person in many different ways that he didnt realize before. interesting. oh and im really wondering how did the ex superstar contestants of singapore who were booted out way early in our own competition even manage to get into their shows?! So much for being proud of our local talents.

Ok, im not in the position to say this because im still playing tennis with my buddy even in midst of the approaching exams. But honestly, this semester is passing by faster than the last, which i thought was incredulous considering that last semester for me was already mind boggling.

Last semester it was only a month, and with all the activities from hall and school alike, it passed by faster than a fart. I guess when you are having one of the most unbelievable, bad days of your life, its really important for you to sit down and just reflect the good things that might have occurred in between all the mishaps. Friends willing to wait for your bus before they board theirs because they are sad, friends who wait out for the rain with you and then play tennis in the rain with you, friends who are so afraid that your online losing streak in online mahjong is so ridiculous that day that they try to secretly feed you tiles without telling you, and also friends who just messaged you because they remembered you had a test today. A man comes out and talks about how a passed exam can ruin your life if you dont take responsibility for your actions. He mentioned about the opportunities and freedom that came with passing the exam but failed to mention about the crazy low COE prices nowadays. But that's because the movie is as outdated as my snoopy tee shirts.
Then the amazingness. Cars cruising, drifting along wet roads and then bam! Rams right into another vehicle. The effects were breathtaking. The only feedback was that the video would have been better if nobody actually died in the process. But then again, they didnt mention so who knows!
Mr Michael (his fake name), age 46 claimes that he drank some alcohol with his friends one night and got caught by the traffic police (His really unlucky day) and then, got his license revoked. The worst thing was, he was a car mechanic! He cannot test drive his customers' cars anymore! (Sibei sibei unlucky) The drama is as good as it gets. Mr criminal then says that he wishes everyone to drive responsibly and not to drink, but fails to mention if he got his license back after agreeing sponsor his life of stupidity to the driving school's video.
Miss christina (i forgot her fake name), age 26, shows pictures of her in her glory days when she looked like a cheerleader and said that she was getting married when she was 21 with her boyfriend. They were so excited to tell all their friends that she was ready to give up her life and ambitions by getting married so early when their car skidded on the wet roads and they were both flung out into a canal. The boyfriend died and she has had problems talking and walking ever since. She pleads that teenagers do not drive around as if the world belonged to them as she had learned her lesson a very hard way.

I was actually captivated by the video.
I give it five stars. ITS NOT A STUPID VIDEO OK!

- Life of a Floater -

I knew it, i knew it, i knew karma would strike me eventually. I am offcially a floater in my new semester, having to mingle with a class where 90 percent of them already had lessons together in the previous sem and me, alone, all alone in the class like fat bambi in the forest staring into my own space and typing sms-es to my friends in dire need of comfort.
I realised after coming into university that while it is very easy to know many people, it is difficult to know friends, and lets not even try to remember how tedious that process is itself. Im not motivated to start studying hard again; the last attempt almost shortened the lifespan by a quarter and i only managed a second upper class.

I dont even have the mood to write about 2007. oh wait i do. My friends and i saw this little girl's plea for help on the notice pasted at the bus stop during new year's eve. Its very endearing really.
" I am a 9 year old girl. On christmas day, i left behind a black umbrella at this busstop (Hillview crescent) It is a foldable disney umbrella with mickey mouse pictures on it. If you happen to see it, please contact 96682232. It will make me very happy. Thank you"

Im starting a fund to help this girl buy a mickey mouse umbrella. All donations can me transfered to my account. Ok take that back. I just found this very endearing that's all.

And then you realise you have left it vacant again for almost 2 weeks after the euphoria of ending yet again, another seemingly depressing A levels.
I type this entry sunburnt, lips peeling, arms red, face a literal black where its impossible to cover any hints of anger in my face now because it already looks permanently moody.
Im having one of the impossible weeks where im juggling tennis trainings, CCA committments, 2 other sub committee commitments while planning and waiting patiently to burst out into the scene of euphoria with my friends after they have all finally finished their examinations in the other university. But that's another matter for now.
Because, i was volunteering at the Singapore marathon and boy, were those runners drug addicts that day. For 'Deep Heat' that is. The miracle spray and lotion that brings your muscles into a state of high and let you think that you will be able to continue onanother ten kilometers beyond the finish line. It was a scary sight. The moment you wield out the can, people start streaming over to you so fast it reminded one of great white sharks all moving in for the kill. Then all you hear are many repetitive words: Ah! Pain! Calves! Knees! Back! Front! More please! Here! There! Thanks! Huh! NO MORE??!
Yes, no more was heard in 5 short minutes after i took out the spray. I was like cinderella worked to her death, and everyone was her stepsister. Everyone was in such pain when they crossed me (i was located after the 36 km stretch) that i do not know why, but i felt absolutely, ridiculously, guilt-ridden! I didnt dare face runners when i was drinking my water, didnt dare to slouch or yawn in front of them because i knew they were more tired than me, didnt eat my breakfast while standing from 530 am to 130 pm, and for a period of time, didnt even dare to stand in the shade for fear of being seen as disgracefully lazy boy! Which explains why im so burnt now.
But the things i saw. Wow. Those black runners ran and ran like a mexican running for their dear lives trying to go past the US borders, girls who ran faster than boys, girls that looked like men, girls that obviously wanted to be men, gross men in running tights, old people from running clubs, people that had to run with ipods, couples that decided the marathon was a good time for a stroll in the park, the fantastic man whom pushed her wheelchair bound daughter to the finishing line, my brother, my friends, the female clown whom was wrapped with balloons and bells, the man whom ran with a superman cape, the boy decked out in a full spiderman suit right up to the face mask, ambitious fat boys who should have run the half-marathon instead.
Yes speaking about that, there were just SO many people who were walking for half the marathon! I mean if there were 40000 runners as mentioned, then im sure at least 20000 walked forever. Honestly, why do people just want to torture themselves like this when they know they havent trained enough for the event yet? Is it for the tee shirt? because i would think that if i didnt run for at least 3/4 the distance i would have felt embarassed to even wear it. Goodness. Running to the finish line is inspirational when you do it right from the start after training for months and months. But its a TRAGEDY when you dont train and every volunteer has to wait till you finish walking to the finish line!
Well never mind that. miss potato and i were talking about the marathon and i was talking to her about how the black runners were so fit they even had the energy to look back at their competitors after running for so long. "Well you know i would never look back," she said.. I acknowledged eagerly as i knew running was the bane of both our lives. And then she replied "No, its not becase im tired, im scared it may have just been a hantu calling out my name, and then once i turn back, the spiritual protection is broken." Sometimes im honestly amazed at her ability to still surprise me after so many years of friendship.

I was pondering if i should have drank another bottle of chicken essence because i have never drank so many bottles in a week before in my life.
And then as i was thinking, it started pouring.

PS: i finally understood why they said english was so important in another subject. i was doing a previous stats paper for encouragement, and the misunderstanding of one sentence in a question plummeted me from a confidence booster of 20 easy marks to just nothing but a wealth of swearing and depression.

No more trying to smoke people out on the things im obviously not interested in, no more putting my hands in my pocket to signal that i do not know what the hell is going on in most of my presentations, no more meetings, no more reports, no more presentations, and no more presentations!! haha i guess i sound senile now that i actually want to specializing in marketing.

Many people of late kept telling me that my facial expressions are so distinctively memorable that when i talk to them through sms or msn they could always almost picture me talking in front of them. Its like live feed 24/7 from Mr Yeo. SO i decided to not get so high from now on when i talk. Even if it means i have to bite my tongue from laughing hysterically or moving my head around like an indian when im trying very hard to make my friends recall a hongkong actor who apparently looks a lot like one of the china workers in my grandpa's factory. Ok i think i should have said that the other way. Now its like i downgraded the actor's status.

Last stats tutorial today! You dont know what that means to me! Yijun was quick on her preemptive strike and hurriedly snapped countless mini graduation photos of our class. Now i just have to work hard enough to make sure i never have to step back into the tutorial class again -_-"

Out of point, but i realised after listening to Amei's album now and i totally regret that i didnt buy tickets to her concert. I can almost belt out every song from her new album with her! Also, i think i should dedicate an entry to the bugs in my hall toilet soon. Its an insect world out there.

I type to this entry as if i only had the time to do so because i was on the train towards school and this was all the time (or energy) that i could squeeze out of just to input my thoughts.
Unlike the times when i had to post something immediately after a day of fun (because i would forget as soon as i had my very next day of fun), i realise that i can still so vividly remember the moments of joy i have had for these past three months.
Oh what a bore has everything become! I have been reduced into the most common of hermit, and my shell is cracked with the scars of stress and everyday worries. I have never appreciated the notion of projects, and so i will have you imagine how the many, many, MANY projects of my course has sent my timetable into the utmost topsy turvy. Its like a rollercoaster ride that i cannot get out of, and i am still vomiting from the motion sickness. What a sick nightmare!
Well, i guess for those who know me, and my history of math, i guess i need to commemorate an entire worthy paragraph to talk about statistics. Statistics, in a nutshell to me, is my very worthy version of hell. Its like i was sucked away from all my favourite books that i was reading to shrink like little alice, thrown onto a calculator that is a hundred times my size, and asked to input the correct configurations before i could escape. The jack rabbit has been waiting so long for me to get the answer, its skeletons lie beside the 'off' button of the mechanism, portraying its very patient resistance to just let me fail permanently and die.
That time to go is upon me again, and i will speak to all after the exams.

- The Structured Timetable -

Turns out that having more time on your hands is definitely more challenging when it comes to time management. I always wondered how those people did it. You know, the people who play their sports well, spend all their time training in it and still come out of the examination halls with the similar confidence through and through.
I have quite a relaxing timetable on my hands and im thinking how much extra time i have on my hand now to study, but then i still realise im only still hitting the books when its near the stroke of midnight. In a way its a possibility that im trying to delude myself that its not supposed to be so tough right from the start, but then you compare homework with your friends and you realise that if you are not going to aim for the top, there are many people out there who cannot wait to take your position.
University is certainly a new experience. They expect you to "skim" through at least three chapters of the textbooks before you head for tutorial each time, where you are immediately then assigned to different groups to start on projects immediately. Its difficult, but in a way realistic, because out there in the working world, whom is going to wait for you to feel comfortable before setting out tasks for you to do yes?
So then the planning begins. Do you still want to make sure you head down for all lectures even though they are positively rendered useless with it being merely just an oral presentation each time? Even during my first tutorial, my lecturer (whom by the way cannot even speak proper english) dismissed the class thirty minutes before the slated time, only to rush back after five with enlightenment that she had forgotten what time the class was supposed to end. My god, i got so worried seeing this. Isnt this supposed to be our last formal education? Where's the professionalism?
I have got along pretty well with the seniors of my hall too, but then im really trying to restrict myself to just take part in specific sports and societies for now. There's no way this time i would allow fun to replace results. Because all i really am given now is one chance. Guys, lets all work really hard together!

- TV Grumbles -

I had finally caved in. The reality of going to my first lectures on friday without the notes in hand was as daunting as not being able to eat a plate of cheese fries in front of me. The worst thing was that i had already run out of black ink even before the initiation started, so i was to be prepared to see everything in blue on friday.
The thing is after watching sex and the city (Dont ask me why), there was a particular chapter in the series that interested me greatly. "Are we doing everything in life because of the shoulds and should nots?" Were we in the university because we should have, with the comfortable family background that most of us grew up in? How little times have we seen people bravely drop their current education to do something that really interested them (Oh dont tell me you did not gasp a little when you heard students with straight As from RGS saying that they want to commit to their sporting career full time by entering into the sports school?) Well turns out if you noticed, the sports column of the straits times is not exactly brimming with news about the kids from the new school much nowadays, especially when it should, considering that the Olympics was just officially a year away from us a day ago. Most of us are really just in real life, doing everything in the motion we should be doing it in, and basking in whatever glory that the future will bring us, convincing ourselves that it was all worth it.
I'm thinking back of the day the university had wanted the students to choose their electives based on the first come first serve basis. I was wondering why it took me forever to choose something and just get it done and over with (In fifteen short minutes every module worthy of taking up was gone) Conversations with miss potato led from a dilemma of which electives to take up to just taking up whatever that fits the damn timetable to a T. Yet i come with the sudden realisation that i was not being slow at all; probably deep inside, i just thought that it was my last chance, through the electives, that i could probably study something else that i could have made a career out of but never dared to. I told people during my first year in junior college that i would quit school and join mass comm studies in the polytechnic if i had then not managed to promote (I thought i could fulfil a hidden desire to be a columnist in the newspaper; i had slowly come to like sumiko tan then). But they all fluttered away in rapid, slow vapours when i found out that i had made it almost instantaneously. Was it my basic instinct to continue following the motion since there was room for me at that moment of time? Probably. But is it still the truth that what I may be doing now might be the best for me? Hell yes.
So we go back to thinking whether there should be any debate in the first place. I think that it really isnt about the 'shoulds', 'should-haves' or 'should-nots' that determine the paths that we take in life. Its really just about the 'wants' and 'not wants'. If we want to eat ice-cream, eat it. And if we decide that we want to follow the motion, then screw the question of "should we?" and better make the best out of everything. Because admist all possibilities in the world, we only have that one life to try and live as fulfilling as ever, and that's really just about it.

I cannot believe im going for camp tomorrow. I hate dirty camps.

Well at least the toilets on the level of my hostel is newly, freshly renovated (breathes)

But its a nice coincidence in my family that im moving into NTU after my brother had his convocation in the same week too. Its like a damn sad studying relay.

- Lingering Silence -

You know frankly, i will not suggest why anyone should not differ their views when it comes to harry potter. A Worldwide bestseller everybody whom did not live in a cave for the past ten years would surely know (even then i highly doubt it).
But honestly, Harry is a very big part of my childhood. And its ending in an almost perfect tandem, seeing that I would soon take steps that would determine my very own future. But finishing the last book gave me a feeling as if i would lose contact with a very close friend forever. And the thirst to find out what the future had in store to the friend after the last time you met is strangely subdued by the mutual silent acknowledgement that you may never see him again. And this i have really felt before, with perfect memories of some others i had befriended in the early stages of my life.
I guess in a way, you cannot call continue to call fiction as such when it has accompanied you for so many years of your life. And i do know that when i read the entire series again, the curiosity would of course have subsided. But sometimes the familiarity between the book and its reader is so strong, which explains why people read their books all over again. No, its not that anyone has forgotten anything, but rather more of appreciating each other's presence all over again, just like old times.

- Photo Jinx -

I have problems with the photos from my taiwan trip as well as my recent chalet outing with the guys. Its really most frustrating. School is starting and judging from the things i was looking at during my Sentosa outing, im very displeased in my thoughts towards the shortlisting criterium student leaders apply when choosing from overwhelming requests to be part of school camps. You think the United States is discrimitory? Open your eyes and just look at our varsities people.
But that's another thought for now. St Andrew's annual dance concert is tomorrow and i cannot wait to watch cel perform. But of course, nobody in the world would be thinking about that first because no one is ever going to steal the thunder from Mr Harry Potter!

-Snotty lovers and the loveliest week-

The first week of july this year will definitely be the highlight of my life. The taiwan trip is gorgerous that i still have not put my mind down on how to write about it, well partly because im trying to rush and finish the fifth harry book before i proceed to watch the movie, then again to the sixth book for the fourth time before the final one comes out. cannot wait.

I saw a most disgusting couple on the train the other day. They were both already pretty ugly, but the guy, oh boy the guy, amused his girlfriend constantly by pushing up his nose and snorting as loud as he could on board a full train. He snorted, then snorted and felt it was still funny after ten minutes and was still snorting. Then they were hugging each other and he was groping his girlfriend here and there, which was confronted by confused shrieks of either happiness or resistance. Please people, just lock them in the cages meant for pigs and drown them in the waters.

Oh back to happy times, i was back just in time to watch Venus win her fourth wimbledon crown! :):):) Until i chanced upon perez hilton's blog that she had a wardrobe malfunction during her post-wimbledon ball that is.

Chalet first, then i will write again. In between reading.

- An Opening -

Its one of those times when you finally realise that you are in the mood to just stand in the open and look at the skies, for any glimer of stars in activity in the breezy night, or thinking about your loved ones whom you have just spent time with.
My contract at my office has ended, and with much unexpected love from my colleagues at the end of the day. Touching and personalised messages, gifts showered to please, hugs for appreciation, and smiles to stay for memories. I adore them, and am so ever glad that i chose to take up the position in recruit express. The stress starts afresh week after week, but so does the satisfaction of adrenaline and friendly competition between each other. This is recruit express. We may encounter sudden surprises any part of the day, and of course, disappointments and moments of dispair every now and then. The guys usually choose to all wear the uniform blue on monday, but once the phone rings, we are off to a new start.
I do feel a little empty now, but i am just ever looking forward to my trip to taiwan! and oh of course all those food. Im going to run and run to make sure that im worthy of all the delicacies there. And oh and wimbledon. All those tennis to make my adrenaline flow again.
Learn to enjoy life people. Stop worrying. If not really, what's the point.

A army mate of mine once said that he thought the world was a lousy place to be in when everything was controlled by money and power. He believed that the barter trade process from the rural eras were good, clean-cut and also free of cheating (Unless you didnt know that the cow was homosexual and refused to mate for you that is)
I think of money now because i forsee myself being bothered by it in the near future. Boys can be seriously damaging sometimes. It only took 15 minutes in Village' today for 5 ordinary boys (who already spent furiously on normal days) to just decide to whisk off together for a free and easy holiday together.
And because im just too lazy to work on the last month before my admission in university begins, i have to now restrict my spending.
Life is just mean! mean! mean!
Haha why cant i be as rich as paris hilton! (I dont mind the jail term too. The way they describe it, it just sounded like my bunk in the army)

-Boy With The Pouch-

Absolutely horrendous. I do not like seeing myself in a pouch. I always thought that guys in pouches would never be fashionable in a million years, and the only people who would chat up with us would coincidentally be, wearing pouches too. I was going johore for the first time (yes i know kill me please) and its really draining but full of surprises.
Johore Bahru is like another Singapore. The malls are like Singapore malls. For goodness when i saw the Food Junction food court i really questioned myself the point of travelling. But the worst thing is that vendors in Malaysia are too smart for their own good and they drive me insane! They have the practise of ordering only shipment of clothes of the average size that most consumers would buy, and completely leave out the other sizes. Which meant that every single design only had medium! Which coincidentally meant that i was not able to get a single tee that was my size! Im so upset now. Super determined to lose weight! :(
But not everything is that bad. Its karaoke (which i sadly havent went), their affordable foot massage services (No thanks to the stupid man whom was playing more with my feet than massaging it) And Yes! Very very cheap seafood. You really must eat seafood there. So worth it and heaven sent.
Its mother's day today and my mama wanted to visit her own mama and cook for her, hence leaving me stranded at home because i thought i would be a nice kid and get rid of most plans today so i could do every ridiculous thing with her that she likes, like watching those stupid korean shows all over again, or those stupid china dramas (god forbid me, but those people cannot act!).
My present for my mommy took a major setback friday night, when she initally thought i bought hand-soap for her when it was very expensive hand lotion. I rolled my eyes and made her rub the lotion all over her hands in front of me and pretend to be surprised all over again so that i would be appeased. Alamak la so anti-climatic!
Brother's overseas now having so much fun, and im having as much fun imagining what he might bring back for me this time. After all those stoning and fantasizing, it really better be something good haha. Or else.
Anyway, Tori Amos rocks people. Listen to her album and feel her words that thrash the lousy society that we have to live in nowadays.

Im really really like one of those taiwan pigs nowadays. I just need to sleep and sleep because im so darn tired after running in those pig races for the native people to see and then eat to my heart's content till i explode.
I've become so obsessed with my work, i think about which candidates i havent introduced jobs yet while i bathe and shit, and then i reward myself with even more food when i feel that i have had a good day. Or when i had a bad day. Or when i just plainly was greedy which is most of the case.
The thing is, why cant people eat and not be fat? why cant our bodies just store the oil without showing it and let us die beautiful?!?! (If we were born beautiful in the first place that is. Sorry uglies!)
I really cannot wait for the end of contract, because then i can be myself again, the funny me, the boy who's obsessed with catching up with his friends all the time, that lazy person that actually found time to read, and so on...
And the worst thing is, this is just a temporary job. Goodness.

- Am i never destined for greatness? -

You know about the saying "the wheels are in motion"? I understand that idea perfectly. But i do not understand the wheels when they are under my feet! I'm taking the whole issue of failing my driving test again very devastaingly, because many people cant wait for me to drive them around, which ironically, is a service im pleased to offer.
But still i do not have that stupid card! Im so desperate for it because if i want to take part in amazing race asia i would have to know how to drive and not depend on my team-mate so much! Then after that, we can fairly separate out those road-blocks that revolves around eating so not one would eat more of the goodies.
Lets just put it down in a statement. I bought a stupid pair of sunglasses to be worn while driving, and i must wear it sooner or later! =(

-I FINALLY MET MY DREAM GUY-

that i really aspire to become that is. This fella whom is truely a humble, egligible bachaleor of 29 waltzed in into my office this afternoon, fifteen minutes after he received a call from me and said that he was free anyway and was just driving around the corner. There he was, with his golden edition of the motorola razor (i swear it was so nice) sitting on the seat telling me that he was too bored lazing around and wanted to find any permanent normal admin/data entry job.
I went into ten minutes preaching that for one being equipped with the knowledge of a full sets in accounts, every senior consultant was going to bombard me to ask why in the world was i not selling him for an accounts position. But he was relentless in his pursuit for a simple easy job that could merely help him spend his time away while his online marketing business was generating wads of cash independently for him every day. All he had to do was go home and update the website every now and then.
In that fifteen minutes for the first time in my agency, i was wishing that i was his candidate. Alamak sia really couldnt go anywhere wrong if he would teach me everything he knew. Life is really full of opportunities, we just have to learn to grab it and learn slowly till we become successful.

- Memory Satisfaction -

Its been three weeks in passing now and ive been so busy and tired i didnt bother to write about my birthdays, mainly because i celebrated with three different group of close ones and im glad to say i enjoyed each and everyone of them. Thank you all!
You know, my job really isnt worth anything much to talk about except of the stressful-ness of it, which im dearly sick of talking about. However, i had my first bubblegum blast of euphoria inside me on friday, when my candidate requested to see me after after signing a contract of a permanent job to her liking that she was sorry for being so choosy and all and was really grateful for the final outcome. Later on, she messaged me to tell me her real handphone number (turned out the previous number i had was just for business-related purposes) In that short message the workaholic and noisy environment in my office turned really heartwarming and i smiled to myself so ever with content.

So im going to move on, and while i do i have three lessons to give out:

1) Mr Bean
2) TMNT
3) Meet the robinsons

And yes, the movies are ranked accordingly to how bad they really were. Cause im the kind of person who will say "I told you so" if you dare not to listen then still bitch about it later on Muahaha.

All my life, i always wondered why i had this obsession towards trying to make my life difficult for myself. Deadlines are always completed only when they do arrive, and schools that i liked were always so far from home. No, i could never be that kind of people who could settle for a school just because it was 300m away from my home. Ridiculous.
But my job now, oh man i think all the close ones already know how stressed out i am, and boy am i. I even have the freaking eczema to show for it. Eczema due to stress. Yes its true it happens.
So while now im itching all over and complaining to those who are kind enough to stand my nonense, Im trying to stay as positive as ever and hope that after this three month stint at the office, I will come out a person with a resume very much alive indeed.

Too good in fact. Everytime i stay over at grandma's with him he will buy anything that i want back, or we will eat supper and talk trash. He's stocked up the whole place so well i didnt really even dare to extend my stay for five minutes. Because god help me if i cannot fit into my newly bought fitting office wear! I will seriously just start slicing myself its not even funny.

-finally finished all clearance matters needed for that ugly, but elusive pink i/c back in my hands soon
-finally, a private tennis coach shared with boon
-finally got down to meeting cas again soon to thrash the night out
-almost done painting the stupid room
-decided that shi xin huey's album is really very good

-Its the state of confusion -

Its after chinese new year and after i helped paint my home into a new shade (hopefully for many years to come) I was unexpectedly reined in to help my grandma paint her room. Because she decided to change rooms in her own apartment!
After a bout of nausea i realised it was because she wanted the new maid to sleep in the same room as her first (nobody gets past her) till probably one day they become great friends and she decides to give her her own room.
The thing about HDB flats is tricky. Because HDB flats whether its a 3,4 or 5 room flat, all the bedrooms are vaguely indistinguishable from one another especially in terms of size. Then you start thinking all the time if you should give the maid one of the rooms, because it could be another great guestroom, a great playroom, a study room and everything else. So technically if you give the maid a room of her own, then is she considered part of the family immediately? Or also an equal? Because i remembered in the maid agency reading their slogans in one of the 'donts list' for employers was not to treat them as equals. But if we dont do that will the maids get depressed? Will they run away? Will they start cursing you gibberish in the indonesian slang? Its so confusing! And also the only room in the normal HDB flat which is considerably smaller than the other rooms is the storeroom. But who the hell lets their maid sleep in the storeroom. Its like kidnapping someone in captivity.
So in the end i told mommy and daddy that it was down to the choosing of the maids that would be the key towards not having a runaway maid. Matching the many photos provided by the agency with the database of my grandma's mannerisms, character, bouts of stubborness, practices, we had to find a maid with just one glance that would tell us that:

-she wasnt too old or she would quarrel with my grandmama
-she wasnt too young or she would feel bullied by my grandmama
-she wasnt too dull lookin because we always must have the 'A' game around my grandmama
-she wasnt too short because how to help grandmama when she's taller
-she wasnt too skinny because how to help grandmama when she's heavier
-she didnt have children of her own because she would think bout them more than grandmama
-OR she did have children but they were at the age of talking back so she wouldnt miss them
-AND THAT she looked approachable so that grandmama wont say she had the black face
-she looked smiley so that it showed she herself was all about optimism in life.

There. Because of these ridiculous terms of conditions choosing the maid in the end actually became indefinitely easier. It all got down to 2 out of 40 girls in just 10 minutes before i pestered my own mama that i wanted to eat my boon tong kee chicken rice for the over-analyzing done in my brain for the day.

Classics are difficult to watch, because movie actors in the past talked so fast you would actually have to take ten minutes into the movie into convincing yourself that you understood and spoke the language since you could talk. Casablanca was a blast, the actresses from the past, way smouldering sexy too. I wonder if there are any other classic titles i should catch. Suggestions?

But Chinese New Year is even harder. You go out everyday, and everyafternoon, and everynight, and there is just no time for yourself. You are exhausted and you want to watch tv. You want to tell your stomach that it has been enough eating (It has been even before the festives) and start running again, even if it made you feel that you might as well get hit by trucks. But you get the perks, you feel glad for cousins who are hitched and happy, get inspired from those who are born entrepreneurs, and elated for the fact that the bunch is still able to talk normal, and fast, as if we just met up the week before.

Priness of the year goes to my lil cousin miss rena. She selects what she wears for each day, and actually owns a sarong kebaya with the full range of little matching bags. Apparently the actress to be, she quickly cuddled in my arms when i asked whether she was cold (screaming 'yes') only to hear the backfire from her mother that she does not even use a blanket when sleeping. Yes these moments make the festives good each year again in the end.

But im still paying the course fees (i.e. losing) for mahjong. Damn i am lousy in it. Even my junior in camp said it in my face. But I like. I must play and play, play until i drop on the table. Play until when i grow old. Become ghost also must find khakis to play with. Because its fun and it prevents you from going retarded. And it is like dignified gambling because its also a game at the same time.

Its ok though. Im going to work immediately the moment i get back the little pink card. Through the most bizarre of opportunities, I went to a job agency in town to ask for help, only to be asked in return if i was willing to work there. There. All that is left is passing the damn driving and i would feel complete for a while, before the incompetence hits again when i enter university.

-Chinese New Year, Actually-

Its really the couch potato's worst nightmare. He sits in the living room watching his dvd, when mom (upon finishing her leisure task of surfing in the internet forums) says "lets head down to the market now; the rain has stopped" He looks around and realises that out of the three avaliable options (i.e actual sons) he's the only pathetic one left because he decided not to go out and play today.
Then the wet market bellows hello (sounding of course, ancient) and you see this picture of food and fruit vendors placing tables along the mid alley till it cannot be anymore full, and if you are tall enough, your head would hit the canvas tied and stretched above the stalls that were used earlier for the rain and get a free shower there and then. Its a rabbit's haven, it would never have expected itself to see so much fresh produce in its little life, because if it did, it would eat them, and then everyone in the world would want to eat that fat ass rabbit.
The numbers too, are pretty ridiculous, 400 dollars spent on raw meat for the festive this yr is reportedly less than the last one, though i remembered clearly that mother still bought extra in the end. In the scene, the power of women is mind-blowing. If hilary clinton wanted votes for the upcoming election from her fellow women, she should campaign there. If she wanted girl outing, there. If she only wanted to shop, still there.
BECAUSE AUNTIES ARE EVERYWHERE--> vegetable stall, fruit stall, meat stall, drink stall, decoration stall, flower stall, whatever stall. They all there! Here there, shout there (LAI AH LAI AH OEI!) haggle everywhere! Its like a very bad movie and you want to leave, but then you realise your mom is at this point of time, strutting her very dominance in the household and you dont dare complain because she might just not want to do anything. And then you really die.

- Of Ankles And Buttocks -

Im the absolute weirderst person alive. I always dont get injured the way i should as a normal person, and its always during very very stupid things! In the past during ice-skating, i would not fall while gliding away like a ugly princess, but the moment someone asks me to walk to them to talk, i just do a humpty dump in front of them and decide to do a almost 180 degree flip. My poor buttocks ached for 3 days thereafter i reckoned.
Then yesterday while playing tennis with the guys, i sprained my ankle not during a point, but when i was actually picking up a ball while i was talking with my friend!
HUH?! IRRITATING!
Does this mean if i was in a war i would get shot not because of enemies but because when we won the war I decided to dance with my rifle and accidentaly shoot myself to abyss?! I wonder if this is retribution for all the things i said in my life.
HAHA NOT.
So recently due to the laziness finally kicking in with the whole family, my mom finally decided to hire a part-time maid to help out with the housework again. Its been long since the family looked happy just lazing around like pigs and all haha. My mom kept walking around the house just to tell me how smooth the newly polished floor was and all. So weird la the people around me. And the part time maid too! Even though she wasnt watching the tv when cleaning the house, she kept laughing to herself because of the dialogue she heard till i told her to just let it all out. My kind of maid man.
I guess i was damn pampered in the past. My maids used to feed me (because i had the habit of staring at the tv dramas without eating in the past and they decided they had to stuff something in my mouth before they can wash up and rest for the night) , keep changing the towels on my head when i was having a fever, and always cooked whatever what i wanted to eat and so on. WHOAH like paris hilton man without the hotel though.
I must be mad saying all these today.

My lack of updates was not due to persistent negligence on my part to prove that im too busy to type. Its just that my computer has switched many places many times a day now, with the re-shuffling of the furniture, the audience of new ones, the painting of walls and the most dreaded polishing of the floor tiles. Where i would sleep after that i havent guessed. Screwed, i already know. 7 hours. That should be about the duration i took to paint today. Tip of the day is: JOLLY WELL get a stairway in your house in future with welded metal railings that would not rust away. Painting that stairway in my home today was so frustrating i felt just throwing the whole bucket of paint over the railings and letting it rip zzz.
Camp over the three days was alright for me the moment i did the first duty of the day. Its always the first which is most daunting, but i can safely say that i should not have to go back anymore. I must admit though the new guys are pretty good candidates to be good friends. But since i already have great ones, i was obviously not willing to get friendly and emotional with anyone of them. I still have to pass on my 'lao jiao' pillow to one of them though; my senior passed it to me after he collected his pink i/c and said i was to pass it to someone good. The pillow should be in its fourth generation of handing down after me i guess. Crap its true. Army boys really do stupid stuff haha.

My house is by any means, not suitable to stay in now. Dust is everywhere and the only place im allowed to be at during the day is anywhere except outside my house. The head of the household says that the workers cannot be left unsupervised, and me, being only the prince (and also clearing leave) obviously cannot say no.
Gosh this sucks! But thank goodness the australian open has timely arrived this year and boy have i watched more matches than i can handle. Tennis anyone? I crave to hit a backhand and a good serve so i can secretly smirk in my heart.
Nowadays i think i do mix reality with the subconciousness. Have you ever had an incident where you dreamt of something and had such a precise memory of it that you thought it was real? I was marshalling with the guys at reservoir the other day and was remininscing to them how fast had time flown since we ran together at the reservoir when all of them gazed at me as if i was mad and proceeded with relentless effort (i never saw them so united) to laugh at me. Everyone wants a piece of the bitch when they are down i guess.
All I can say is, if it wasnt reality, then it was a wonderful dream then indeed. :)

- Its a period alright. sort of. -

Im bloody sick and i do not know why!
Been:
-Staying at home to rest
-going out to see my doctor and getting awful medicine.
-Spending an insane, worthless time playing games online.
-Sleeping.

In fact, i was so bored i decided to clean up the house. But the ironic thing is when your house has so much clutter all around, you would not see any difference at all even after spending an hour clearing the clutter! I removed four boxes worth of shit, and still my living room looked the same. It didnt appear to have less things. It just looked cleaner because the old stuff were tucked away nicely in the shelves while the new stuff were scattered all around before i decided to do something about the place.

However, I managed to find:
-MY fann wong movie tt i taped eons ago! Its the kind of tele movies that ch 8 used to offer called 'somewhere in time'.
-My parents' wedding photos. Expression of love is evidently hard in this family if all wedding photos were tucked away so nicely.
-The certificates from various competitions that i won in the past and lost.

I was, IF U DIDNT KNOW:
.the very unexpected winner of a chinese essay writing competition back in sji (i was embarrased because the 2nd place's essay was twice my length)
.Voted the most courteous boy in my class for three years during primary school in a row and hence became a friend of SINGA. (yes this award exists muahaha)
.A gold award winner of the traffic games being a cyclist (but yet can still fail driving)

What classic stupid awards. I look forward to my brighter future prospects haha.
